The Hero’s Journey: Starting from Scratch

Neither of us had any idea what to do.

We just knew three things: we're both entrepreneurs who have failed before (but never quit), we have tons of amazing ideas, and we believe AI has finally removed our biggest blocker—we're not amazing programmers.

So here we were on Sunday, May 4th 2025, staring at each other over lunch, asking the same question every founder asks at some point: "How do we start in this new landscape?"

For us, the answer was clear yet terrifying—document the journey of launching a startup following Balaji’s crash course on Startup Engineering and using tools such as Figma + Vibe Coding Platforms for rapid prototyping, and show everyone exactly how the champagne gets made.

Actually we don’t think that Vibe Engineering is about building tools purely with AI. We will still need to be proficient in the language of the internet—programming, bits and nodes and everything in between. In a certain way, furthermore, we’ll be “engineering ourselves”—learn the fundamentals of computer science, statistics and other fundamentals to make sense of things when building. Since we have skills in the business-side of things (sales, design, marketing, etc…), then we will use AI to fill the deficiency we’ve always had—and there’s nothing more exciting than this prospect.
